as a WPA project. The field was named after Hannibal's Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain. This historic field hosted the Central Association League from 1947-1948. The 1947-48 team was known as the Hannibal Pilots.
After the fall of the Hannibal Pilots, Hannibal hosted the Missouri-Ohio Valley league from 1952-1955.
Plans have been approved by the city of Hannibal for re-working the building in left field to provide for the Baseball & Sports Museum, locker room and team offices.
