+ Frank White, Jr. | Kansas City Royals
Frank White is a former Major League Baseball player and coach for the Kansas City Royals. White currently works in the Royals’ front office as well as serving as a part-time color commentator on Royals’ telecasts.

Born in Greenville, Mississippi, White attended Longview Community College in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. It was there that White caught the attention of professional scouts. He signed with the Kansas City Royals as a free agent in 1970, making his MLB debut in 1973.

Faced with the challenge of replacing the popular Cookie Rojas, White soon became a fan favorite. His smooth fielding and exceptional range at second base earned eight Gold Gloves, including six consecutive (1977-1982). Also a five-time All-Star, White helped the Royals to a World Series Championship in 1985. That year he hit a career high 22 home runs.
White has received many honors following his 18 year career. The Royals retired his number 20 and inducted him into the Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame in 1990. In 2008 the Royals named one of their spring training practice fields in Surprise, Arizona in White’s honor.
