+ Frederick Carl “Rick” Reichardt | Former Major League Player
Rich Reichardt was a major league outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels/California Angels in 1964-70, Washington Senators in 1970, Chicago White Sox in 1971-73, and Kansas City Royals in 1973-74.

Even with a kidney ailment, Reichardt finished 21st in voting for the 1966 American League MVP. During that year he played in 89 games with a .288 Batting Average. Also during that year, Reichardt became the first player to hit a home run at the Anaheim Stadium.

In his 11 seasons he played 997 games. He accumulated 2,207 At Bats, 864 Hits, 109 Doubles, 24 Triples, 116 Home Runs and 414 RBI. His career batting average was .261.

During his college years at the University of Wisconsin, he was a two-sport star. He was a wide receiver on the 1963 Badgers Rose Bowl. His team was defeated by USC, but only after the Badgers scored 23 points in the last twelve minutes. The final score of the game was 42 to 37, with the Badgers only trailing by 5 points.

He was highly rated by all Major League scouts.  Reichardt signed with the Los Angeles Angels, guaranteeing a contract of $200,000. This was a record for that time.
