Bob Hemond is the Executive Vice President and a minority owner of the Sacramento River Cats - the AAA affiliate of the Oakland A’s. Hemond co-founded River City Baseball, LLC and River City Sports and Entertainment in 1997 with the goal of returning minor league baseball to the Sacramento, California area. This goal was achieved in 2000, when Hemond’s group moved the former Vancouver Canadians into a first-class 14,000 seat ballpark located on the banks of the Sacramento River.
The son of Arizona Diamondbacks executive Roland Hemond, Bob has enjoyed a long career in baseball himself. Prior to the founding of the Sacramento River Cats, Bob began his baseball career as an account executive for the Wichita Wranglers (AA Texas League). He had also worked five years in amateur baseball as one of three national commissioners for Babe Ruth Baseball.
Hemond’s accomplishments also reach out to the community. He was the President of the West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as Chairman of the Waterfront Area Visitors’ and Entertainment Services in Sacramento, as well as being a board member of both the Downtown-Riverfront Committees and Sacramento Chamber of Commerce.
A graduate of University of California at Santa Barbara, Hemond currently resides in California and is excited to apply his experiences in baseball to Hannibal and Clemens Field.
